Got to say that if BMD were able to do a firmware crop mode of the sensor to 16mm that would be pretty incredible in terms of using cheap (relatively) S16/16mm lenses.

I still think that a manual crop from the RAW 2.5k image should be workable too but as I am currently without camera or a S16/16mm lens I can't test that theory

this is a little ridiculous. Shoot DNG, Crop footage in cineform studio to remove vignetting and export as cineformRAW for edit.

In the end I think you would be more satisfied with a final product shot on bmc with cropped footage and proper s16mm cine lenses than being forced to use some slow still zooms with shitty mechanics.

Sorry kind of off topic but I don't want to start another thread if this has been discussed before
I noticed in one of the comments some one mentioned a rumor that the camera has a 4:3 sensor that crops to 16:9. Is this true? If so what are the possibilities of a firmware update allowing us to shoot the full 4:3?
