There's no definite alternative to the old Sandisks though... basically owners of BMPCC and BMMCC have to scavenge old cards to record RAW, and have no viable alternatives. It's a bit of a shame if you ask me, although to be clear I'm not pointing my finger at blackmagic - they did offer us the BMPCC with RAW recording on SDXC cards when this was bleeding edge....

    I searched hard.
The SanDisk cards that work are GONE.
I found a couple of 64Gig cards on eBay, but there's not much point in 64Gig.

    This is a bitch...

Realizing that it is a clunky solution, are other brands of HDMI monitor/recorder compatible with the new cards?

Not gone. You can buy the original 512GB directly from Sandsik. Yes it's the right one. Others have confimed.

There are a few listings on Amazon.ca with the correct model numbers, I ordered a few months back but received the new ones so promptly sent them back. When this thread came up I checked again and that seller is still at it. Should really report them for bait and switch tactics. Fortunately they are shipped by Amazon, so they take them right back.

This really sucks though. My camera still works great, and have never had issues with cards, but I just have a few, and if anything happen to them the camera would be done. I'll probably soon step up to the new one, but that's not the point. I love the first one and it's still viable for what I do. I feel bad for people buying used ones now, not aware of the issue. eBay sellers should really note the issue, and include working cards, if they have moved on their new camera won't have the issue and should share forward.

Yep, 512 GB per card still fells too oversized and overpriced until you need to shoot many hours non-stop. Few smaller cards works way better when you need additional backup in the field. Probably the only safe way now is to get 512GB cards directly from SanDisk Outlet Store https://shop.sandisk.com/store/sdisk...ariations.true

So I've been reading about this a bunch and it seems like the only viable alternative are the big 512gb sandisk cards (while they last) and the sony 95mbs cards.

Has anyone used the sony cards?

I'm looking into grabbing a few 128gbs or maybe 256gbs if I can find them somewhere.

What are you all doing for SD cards going forward?

Here is nice real life SD cards benchmark chart https://www.cameramemoryspeed.com/reviews/sd-cards/
Overall sequential Sony performance is near the same as Sandisk. But there is a huge difference in Random Write 512K speed: Sony- 33.0, Sandisk - 83.2.
SanDisk Extreme Pro 95MB/s cards Random Write is even faster than UHS II cards.
That Random Write Speed is the only thing that makes SanDisk Extreme Pro 95MB/s cards unique. But it only my guess, i have no idea if it really affect real life camera write performance or stability.

Ah that's an awesome chart, but kind of sad news.

This really is such a huge bummer of a problem.

Please note, it only my guess, i have no idea if Random Write Speed really affect real life camera write performance or stability. As you can see most 300MB/s UHS-II cards are designed in very different way. They have very fast Sequential Write Speed (247 MB/s), very fast Random Read Speed (216MB/s), but same time very slow Random Write Speed (3MB/s). Someone from BM tech support should clarify this.
