So my current lens kit is a mixed bag of primes, some Nikon and Pentax go one way and old m42 stuff goes the other way. Until one day when I can miraculously afford a matched set of cine lenses that isn't likely to change. For a while I was testing various vintage lenses to replace the Nikon and Pentax, but haven't found ones I like and have for now settled on the mixed kit that are surprisingly optically neutral and cut fairly well and want to solve the focus direction issue with a reversible follow focus. The petroff seems decent and is cheap enough for a mechanical one, but it isn't a big jump to move up to wireless with the nucleus n, just wondering if it will do the trick.

I don't know specifically about the N, but I can choose either CW or CCW on the hand unit of the M to decide which way I want to pull. I'm pretty sure the N has that same option.

yes you can set direction bases on preference with the N as Thomas stated. CW or CCW. A very easy unit to calibrate hardstops and throw. Paired with a tilta M handle you can quickly switch between normal throw and short throw.

To be clear I want to focus in a consistent direction on the hand wheel, and have the motor compensate for the various lenses, easy to set up, or PITA.

Super easy, it's a 5-10 second menu choice, that you select each time you swing to a new lens.
