So for those that insist that uncompressed cdng is the only way to go will be hanging on to their old cameras then.

Black magic rule of thumb: wait until at least the 2nd or 3rd generation of the camera before you purchase otherwise the "flagship" camera you bought will stop bieng supported in a few months. Incredibly annoying

An upgrade option would be a nice gesture from Blackmagic. Something like a few thousand to send in your UMP to get the upgraded hardware. An UMP has been on my short list for some time and I'd be pretty mad if I bought one for the same price as a Gen 2 right before this came out.

Yup was hoping for lowlight improvement. Not seeing anything in the specs as dual ISO. Hoping lowlight is better.

that would totally suck if you bought one like a month/week ago.

They claim its a new improved sensor but I don't see any mention of any improvement in the image quality be it low light...DR...or anything. Most of this seems geared towards the hardware now making it able to get higher frame rate and better audio and Braw embedding Luts.

My interpretation of that when they use it generally opposed to referring to the gen1 UMP because the copy seems to be like for like on gen1s.

There were tests that show the P4K has about a stop more DR than the old BMPCC but both were advertised as 13 stops.
The UMP/4.6k was tested by several sources to be around 14 stops. Maybe BMD new standard 15 stops DR on the G2 will be higher than the G1?

If you can roll back and upgrade firmware, I see no issue. I'm sure BM will stop that somehow...
