In any case, thank you for your opinion. I have tried to see how far the color can hold without oversaturating in an digital ugly way.
it is something that I hear a lot of DP that they not choose BM cameras for lack of good color science compared to Alexa or RED, or even old cameras with CCD sensor. And also that's something make me think purchase Pocket 4K or not.

About your LUT on Baloons clip, I think you have managed to maintain the dynamic range very well, but at the cost of maintaining the appearance of LOG and with quite a few color dominants. Maybe the baloolns clip is a bit underexpose as to try to mantain all the details in shadows.

For an idea of real film look, please take a look these for instance:

    https://vimeo.com/234497158
You could see the blacks are blacks, the whites are whites even no clipping at all, full color, contrast... and still a huge latitude or dynamic range.

    Keep developing a great LUT
    Freaky stuff!
These are great pieces and they DEFINITELY show off what film can do.
They were a bit to "affected" for my taste because the super-intense "looks" were fun to look at but distracting from the subject. I was constantly aware of the effects instead of the subject.
Very cool to watch anyway. Thanks for the links.

My intention with any LUT I create is to give a good starting point in terms saturation, contrast, highlight and shadow detail retention. The rest is up to the individual and their own personal taste. For me, the ballon clip is a really good example of stress testing the P4K's dynamic range and should be considered as such.

There are a lot of discussions about film vs. digital and I understand both sides of the argument. Personally, 35mm film is the gold standard and one that I hope to shoot on sometime in my filmmaking journey. Unfortunately there is no such thing as a perfect 'one drop' LUT that'll give you perfect color, blacks, whites, DR etc. Too many variables.

    Thanks. Will do

I dunno... I think the reds are a little too bodacious. Don't you?
