Has any distributor picked up a feature shot on Blackmagic Cameras yet? And by that I mean movies originated entirely on BMD cameras, not where the BM was used just as a B camera or for a few shots.

I'm wondering about the commercial potential of these. Thanks.

Harbinger Down was shot on the original BMCC. It was on Netflix last time I looked.

My understanding is that none of the cameras fit the bill as far as what DP's were looking for until the Ursa Mini. Now is approved as A cam for Netflix shows. There have been some B-cam stuff (Fury Road used the BMCC as a body rig cam and crash cam)

I directed a film that was picked up for world wide distribution that was shot on BMCC. It'll release early next year.

My feeling regarding Blackmagic and Hollywood is that it's really difficult for the new kid on the block to gain acceptance. Arri has a long history with Hollywood, and has the reputation of reliability and color science to make it a favorite of many DPs. RED put on an incredible marketing campaign, and made a few innovations in digital cinema that solidified its stance. I suspect that you'll see Blackmagic continue to flourish in the indie market for a little while, which is certainly not a bad thing.
