If you dig around you should be able to find a good price on some used Arri, Mole Richardson, or LTM Pepper 1K fresnels. Those are all brands you can trust for 1K Tungsten fresnels. I'd suggest going the scrim route for cutting down the light. Dimmers will shift your color temp. warmer the more you dim.

Thanks! Yeah, I usually use scrims but dimmers are often used if the purpose is to warm the light. If they wouldn't change the color temperature, they'd be so much easier to use than scrims...

It was some time ago and they might have changed that since, but it's still a very viable option, even with the possible need to rewire.

We have a couple of the Juniors, they're great lights just mind the switches. 1 of our 1Ks and both of our 2ks have melted the switches though on that photo it looks like they may have fixed it in the recent years.

Sorry for not getting back David, I know you've already moved on but here in the US i've been able to find those DP kits for as low as $300-350. Lowel does make some with barn doors or the ability to buy barn doors for their lights, so be on the look out for that too.

Not sure what the used market is over there but you can sometimes here you can find a steal of a deal on Mole Babies and other >1k lights.
