Been looking at using some micro 4k studio cameras with remote recorders for a project.

When I was looking at those cameras a year ago there was no way to output a log gamma over the SDI feed, only rec709.

Is that still a limitation of the cameras?

Yes, since the camera is a "broadcast" live Production camera, Rec709 outputmis what is needed. The BM Micro Studio does indeed have a nicely saturated color output, reDymto use, no grading required, and the image color look can be adjusted via the ATEM switcher CCU, so a log file is not really needed or necessary for live or "live to type" video productions.

For Film Log work, you want a Cinema camera, which is designed to record a file for later post production color grading. Two different work flows, two, different cameras.
    Cheers

Yeah, the Micro Studio doesn't need log, what it needs is a knee. That's how broadcast cameras squish 12 stops down the pipe.

That is frustratingly short sighted. We wanted to use them on a drone and record into an odyssey. Being locked into Rec709 makes it useless.
