Ended up making my own 7.4v Dummy L battery just to be sure. Not a fan batteries making monitors top heavy. Still waiting on Smallhd confirmation on 12v input.

Focus bootup (4secs) time is a great improvement over the DP4 (10secs). Used to miss a lot of shots because of the slow bootup time

the DC out to a dummy battery is probably the way to go - that way the regulated 7.2v will be spot on (as long as the camera and the montor together don't exceed the max current for the NPF battery - could be iffy)

I asked this from BM before I ordered the focus for my BMMCC. Answer was:

    "Thanks for the enquiry

There should be no issues running power via a 7.2v dummy battery source.
The cameras external power is 12v but this separate from the battery power which should always be 7.2v"

just confirmed by SmallHD Focus is limited to 6-8.4v input so dont go trying to tap 12v into it people =)

Just got mine with the LP-E6 bundle. For some reason it shipped with double HDMI cables (micro - fullHDMI + micro - miniHDMI), wrong charger (US plug) and the plastic covering the screen had some adhesive on it that made the whole monitor smell like poison.

But after cleaning and a night on the balcony it seems like a quality product. Still waiting for the charger though...

I dont know if this is news to anyone anymore but just to confirm, my Focus seems to power the BMMCC just fine. Havent done any battery life tests so cant say for how long the combo works.

This wouldn't work on the BMPCC as well, would it? SmallHD said they were working on a solution but nothing so far.

Can't wait to be able to power it from the monitor.
