If I can actually get close to an equivalent 2k output from the 300D then man... I might not really use Halogen lights for much longer.

With these guys, it's not just about output and CRI for me. Fresnel / single source lights just have a way of wrapping / hitting skin that you can't really mimic perfectly with panels no matter what kind of diffusion you have. While the Fresnel attachment may be nothing to write home about (at least their current ver)... it was really surprising to get the "feel" of that direct beam of daylight coming from an LED source, but one that felt about as pure as an HMI. I don't know how to explain it really... LED's have generally always felt a tad washy and "uncontrolled" in a manner of speaking. A lot of panels fill a space nicely but it's hard to compete with a single source light bouncing off or through diffusion. I can honestly say I feel happy with LED lighting at this point, as it doesn't feel like a compromise based on cost, safety, size etc etc. I can finally do what I've always wanted to do with LEDs, general fill / ambient light within a space but then also direct beams hitting and wrapping just like you'd get with regular Fresnels. Exciting times!
Really glad you said that. It's what I've been looking for and hence never had bought a lot of lights yet.

Do you find any differences from shooting through diffusion from a fresnel/single source vs an LED panel since both would become an "area light"" if diffused?

Well I am looking for a bounce light. This light might just has bit too wide of a throw. I own a LS1 with a softbox, so I really like LED with the controls, V-lock, dimmable.
But for my bounce light I might just buy a Arri 650W or a mole tweenie, as they are pretty cheap used.

Love these frames, Note. I just bought some 120d lights along with the fresnel lenses. Excited to use them!

If you don't mind me asking, what was your setup in those shots?

Sure thing. The focus of this event was to meet new actors and see their initial line readings.
But it's just 1x 120D with a fresnel through some fabric I bought at Joanne's. We were going to bring some bead boards for bounce but had to leave them behind, next time I do this i'll put that up.
The 120D was focused through the diffusion (sometimes double diffusion) along with the sun.

Below are two stills taken around 10 minutes apart with one being just natural light and one with the 120D and fresnel.

with 120D + Fresnel and some modifications and different sun positions but primilary the same setup.

Thanks, Note. Nice, simple, and good-looking setup. I'm actually about to use the 120d's on a shoot this weekend with a fairly similar setup--big window providing key and I'll be using the 120d's to match it as the sun shifts. Thanks again.

Does anyone know if the 300d's 2K output is without the fresnel attachment?

Yep. We had one land, then immediately ordered another one. They are now on every shoot if we can manage them. The 120D is exactly 1/3rd the brightness of the Razr7, and pretty much identical to the Hexolux D7.
