So if you all were upgrading from a GTX 970, would you buy (2 year old) dual 390s?

I'd love to know your respective editing machine specs. I've got a x99 based 6 core Hackintosh with a GTX 970. I'm thinking of upgrading my card. Not sure if I should stay with Nvidia and go 1080 Ti or switch and do dual Radeon 480s/580s.
I'm personally going to go with a single GTX 1080 Ti. 11gb of video ram and the performance exceeding last years Titan X is too good to pass up. No Radeon card can come close to that (though their next generation promises to be interesting).

It all depends what your budget is and what you do with it. If you are strictly using it for video editing, the 2 390x with 8gb of vram each is the sweet spot. If you are using the PC for gaming too, the NVidia has more game support available. I have a dedicated system for resolve so my 2 390x gpu is doing all I need from it.

As Frank said the 2 390s is the sweet spot.
