Veydra primes stolen from a warehouse recently. Any deal you find now that's too good to be true, you know there are over 200 primes out there that are stolen goods.

Wow, seems odd, to have your warehouse at the hands of thieves like this. Don't these guys have alarms, security companies or insurance to take care of this? The despair on their words seems to indicate that they don't. I understand that they are not a huge company and all, but that makes security and insurance an even more logic investment. I hope they recover the stolen glass, or at least manage to survive this setback.

Pure speculation here but... even if they have insurance it's not a fix all. For a start claiming on insurance will push your premiums up, so it will cost them money going forwards. Secondly, lenses are precision items which they can't just churn out new ones tomorrow - so these thefts will hit Veydra's sales going forwards in the short term (they have nothing to sell) and could also mean not fulfilling existing orders in a timely manner. And they're going to have wages to pay and all other business costs in the interim whilst they get their business back up and running again.

So even with insurance, it's not a great scenario for a business.

Lost time, inability to fill orders, and Mark's comments. The report didn't indicate the security in place, but for sure the police will treat this very seriously. I don't know if Veydra uses serial numbers somewhere on their lenses, but if they did, the lenses would be almost no value to a thief. If this is organized crime, the lenses will find their way into grey markets at home or abroad.

Yeah, insurance is a hell to deal with, I'll agree with you on that. As for the serials, I don't believe I ever saw them on the lens body itself (however, I haven't had one on my hands).

Yes, the Veydras have serial numbers engraved on them, at the base of the lens, so not easy to remove or change.
If you see a suspect lens, try to get its SN, and contact Ryan to see if it is on his "Stolen" list.
    Cheers

That is good insurance. They'll show up eventually.

And since its engraved, if the serial is tampered with...then you'll know for sure.

Wow that sucks for them, when they first annowced I dreamed of getting a set, but it was dependent on the right camera coming along to go with them. At this point hoping for a pro level MFT camera from Blacmagic or anyone else for that matter, seems less likely than the fabled ursa turret. Hope they can recover from the set back.
