So here's the entire story in a nutshell:

Our 7" touch monitor decided to not work on set (no damage, no misuse) literally worked perfectly then after a reboot it was a blank screen.

After several trial and errors, a very nice Red employee suggested we perform a firmware update in hopes that it would resolve the issue.

It didn't.... It actually killed our side handle which, like the monitor, had NO damage and NO misuse.

I now have two bills on hand if I want them repaired.

    Monitor repair: $941.56
REDŽ TOUCH 7.0" LCD MAIN BOARD - PWA / BOM $750
    Service Labor $125

    Side handle repair: $451.62
SIDE HANDLE - KEYBOARD FLEX - PWA / BOM $275
ZOOM BUTTON, ASSEMBLY, SIDE HANDLE $25
    Service Labor $125

Anyone else have any similar experience/issues?

Is it just me or does that seem unfair. Can't believe I'm even asking that.

What's up, slow news day? Do we really need another 10 page Red Vs. BM thread that's exactly the same as every other Red Vs. BM thread.

Not the first time someone is having a problem. Something new every week over there.

    Everyone? Everything?

Isn't that the definition of "so dumb"?

The post is at least the definition of irony.

I actually think it's a decent thread to provide people an idea of what repair costs may be with a company like that, and what the outcome may be in that situation, but I think your title could have been different.

The DSMC2 world has not been a smooth ride with glitches and bonk outs like this. Lots of fried components and quirks and firmware head shots. Mini-Mags seem to be a real problem child. Then there's the whole Raven fiasco. The last year or two haven't been RED's best, that's for sure. The older DSMC1 stuff still works pretty well, tho. If one stays on the dull side of the cutting edge it's not too bad- most glitches and problems worked out there. Too much blood on the sharp side it seems. An Epic MX still makes dandy pics if you know how to use it. Accessories are inexpensive enough now as everyone and their dog dumps them onto the market to pay for their Weapon or Helium upgrades. There are deals to be had on the dull side....

From talking to certian people, RED made a lot of bad financial decisions in the past few years that's really hurt them, the Raven being one of them. It seems to be affecting their R&D as well for other cameras.
