    Hi,
Does anyone know whether the triton audio fethead phantom would help boost the audio on my 4.6k?
    Anyone have experience of these?
They don't seem too expensive and my audio is too quiet. Clean but quiet.
Maybe I have the wrong end of the stick with these and it doesn't do what I hope it does.

    Craig.

I don't have any experience with the Fethead or the Ursa Mini, but it says it provides 18 db of amplification. I don't know how quiet your audio is, but that should help a lot. Now whether it distorts the audio or not, I don't know. If you try it, please report back so others know whether they should buy one.

Think I may give it a go, interesting that it seems to harvest the excess power from the phantom power to add a high quality pre amp. It is in at studiospares uk that only sell decent audio kit, they have been around forever. Will report back.

Yes. The FetHead will definitely perform as intended in that configuration.

Regular Fethead on 4.6K + NTG-2 Works very well. With input High I often dial anything between 30-60%.

Just pick the right one depending on the mic you use. I was about to order Fethead Phantom but got the regular Fethead since that is what Triton Audio recommends for battery powered NTG-2 http://tritonaudio.com/question-1.html

Craig, I'd be interested in hearing your results. At this point with the Sennheiser 416MKH and the mic set on High, but gain at 50% (which is no gain), I can pick up talk at least 60' away without touching it in post. In post I can boost it 18dB and sweeten with iZotope RX Plug-ins. But the Fethead Phantom might make everything easier. What I want ideally from the FetHead is the boost without the distortion and noise of course.

I will be very interested in your test results. I tried the Cloudlifter, which promised more gain without extra noise, but in my experience, it raised the noise floor, too.

I have the Tritonaudio Fethead phantom, use it successfully with a Neumann KMR81i and uploaded a short sond test a couple of weeks ago.
