I am. I'll most likely have a new build with it next week (hopefully).
I will still go with anIntel i7 or Xeon if it is for DaVinci Resolve. The AMD RADEON R9 390X 8Gb was the best for the price and works very well with DaVinci Resolve 12.5.x on Open CL. But that is a GPU and not a CPU. However do report back how ryzen does.
Yes. IME, there are software that take advantage of low level capabilities and tend to be implemented towards prevailing HW technologies. Game and media process intensive softwares tend to fall in this direction. AMD, aside from certain GPUs like the R9 390X and D700s, are geared towards general consumer priced products. I had an AMD cpu smoked on me while I was running DaVinci Resolve - no kidding.
reviews are out!
I rarely but some people are disappointed. Workload seems awesome.
This is a review of premiere I've found (gpu also noted)

Interesting, I wonder how resolve does.

I needed to do a new build anyways due to case/hdd changes.
The memory comes this friday (should have gotten more) and will be the last piece. Everything else is here.
