I have not been following the development of LED strips this past year - which are the affordable ones with good color? Or which are you guys using?
the RU groupbuy are one of the top 2 highest strips from what I've read/seen.

This is sort of off topic as the post is about LED strips, but I am thinking about building a small, simple, production light with a bowens s mount from one of the high cri 100w chips from Yuji. Does anyone have any experience trying to do something like this?

I was going to copy the wiring/ a lot of the parts from this project, but try and put it in a more video production friendly package without the lens in front of the LED or the water cooling (would instead cool the chip w a CPU heatsink). Might also add an XLR for power.

Probably going to use this for the S mount and light stand mount and try and design a 3d printed enclosure that fits around it.

    Thoughts? Suggestions?

I thought about doing something similar but maybe buying a cheapo fresnel is a good idea too. I just bought two 650W theater fresnels for 50each on ebay, then you put that DIY Perks built into it.

Also, I did build a proof of concept DIY chimera:
5m Yuji LED strip on 50cm x 50cm plexi, added some diffusion to it and a grid.
So now I have 100, 95 CRI Chimera.
    Cool, huh?

PS: Gosh, my GH2 is noisey. But you get the point!
