Just mirroring John's comments above. I have the full set and they are definitely on the tighter side rather than loose. There is zero play in mine, should definitely get that fixed.

Never felt my APO set had any play. Definitely tight.

Maybe email SLR magic direct. I've found the APOS to be tighter rather than loose.

    OH, sorry, see you have.

Yeah it shouldn't be like that
    Hey John,

I loved your initial test with the 50mm, and was wondering if you have any plans to show off the 25mm/85mm in the future.

I shot a whole bunch of awwwsome looking tests with all three lenses about 3 months ago, but I haven't had the time to edit them all together yet.

I'll try in the next few weeks.

Looking forward to seeing those tests John!
Just an update regarding my 50mm APO w/ play in the focus ring: I returned the lens just to be safe. Thanks for your feedback everyone!
I'm going to order a new 50mm from B&H to pair with my 25mm.
Also: Has anyone heard anything regarding when the 32mm might be coming out? Or the 18mm?

Hopefully this isn't too off topic - I noticed on B&H that the SLR Magic HyperPrime 50mm T0.95 Lens with MFT Mount is currently on sale for $699. Image-wise, would there be a noticeable difference between this lens on my GH5, verses the SLR Magic APO HyperPrime CINE 50mm T2.1 Lens with PL Mount > MFT adapter on my GH5?

By "noticeable difference" I mean in image quality? I assume there's a difference in the handling ... focus gear, breathing.

Tempted to invest in the CINE 50mm T2.1 Lens with PL Mount, though, just to "future proof" myself since I'd love to eventually get the Mini Pro 4.6K.

The Fine 50mm APO is an APO lens with better controlled CA and other optical issues. Both lenses have their own "IQ look", they are not the same or even similar.

    They are very different lenses.

The 0.95 has a lot of personality. It's has flaws that many find beautiful. It's a lot smaller. It's a lot faster.

The APO is a fully fledged cinema lens. It has a very neautral and clean look.

    I own both.

Thanks Denny & John. John, since you own both, is the 0.95 more like a stills lens? Meaning, I've read online that lenses like the Canon EF and Sigma Art are designed more for stills cameras; they have more contrast; motion looks different. Is this true of the 0.95 lens?

Maybe it's not so black & white? Every lens has its own unique look, whether it's Canon EF, Sigma Art, SLR Magic APO, Sony CineAlta, etc. I'd just like to move away more from the "video look" I see with my GH5 & Canon EF lenses.

Really wish there were more examples online of projects shot with these lenses.
