  1. #1 Any news on the URSA Major/Mini 4.6K (PL Version) ?
Has anyone been able to narrow down any real or verifiable shipping date for the PL version of the URSA major/mini 4.6K?

I'm getting a lot of mixed info between B&H, Able Cine, and others. I hear this month, maybe next month and possibly not even until NAB timeframe. It's getting really discouraging. I've been told, "will have the EF version before PL." The thing is, I want to use real S35, true cine glass, (Zeiss/ARRI Master Prime set, Sony CineAlta 4K set) not EF still glass so the PL version is only of interest with regard to purchase.

I hear you. Have you (or anyone else) tried out an EF-to-PL adaptor? Seems like it might work pretty well with this S35 sensor. If it works well we might get the best of both worlds with the EF version.

I have never tried an adapter. I don't see why it wouldn't work though. The only concern I would have with adapting is that the rugged strength gained by using PL would be lost. Just a thought.

Ruggedness is not the concern with an EF to PL adapter. The main drawback is that it only works on PL lenses with a VERY shallow rear mount. Only a handful of PL lenses work:

    Allstar 18-35mm T1.8
    Allstar 80-200mm T3
    Allstar 50mm T1.5
    Allstar 135mm T1.9
    Angenieux Optimo 19.5-94mm
    Angenieux Optimo 28-340mm
    Angenieux Optimo 45-120mm
    Ruby 14-24mm T2.8
    Angenieux Optimo 15-40 mm T 2.6
    Angenieux Optimo 17-80 mm T 2.2
    Angenieux Optimo 28-70 mm
    Angenieux Optimo 24-290 mm
    Angenieux 24-290 mm T 2.8
    Angenieux 17-102 mm T 2.9
    Angenieux 7-81 mm T 2.4 HR
    Angenieux 20-120 mm
    Canon 300 mm T 2.8
    Canon 400 mm T 2.8
    Canon 800 mm T 5.6
    Canon Century 200 mm T 2
    Cooke 18-100 mm T 3
    Nikkor 200 mm T 2
    Nikkor 300 mm T 2
    Nikkor 800 mm T 5.6
    Nikkor Micro 200 mm T 4
    Canon Century Optics S2000 150-600mm

    That's it.

My issue is similar, i need to get my hands on the PL mini soon just so i can make a new mount. what i need is BNCR / OST-19 do to a fact that that i have two sets of lenses that i wont convert to PL just to i can use them on Mini... basically what we can see for a B4 mount adapter, PL is removable by several screws and sub flange is sufficiently low so any new mount can be fabricated and shimed. but for that we need darn camera. My rough estimation is that we will need minimum of 3 months once camera is actually shiping, to have all the nice goods made for it. that is depressing! am looking at Jun 2016 to be able to slap on some anamorphics or use my lomos... On that note am hoping that All Star and Denz already talked to BM and that they will be able to put something together before.

This and the fact that you loose the positive lock of PL mount with the wimpy EF mount (you will need to add locking lens support to any lenses mounted this way to prevent lens shifting when pulling focus) is why this is of very limited use, unless you happen to have or want one of the listed lenses.

This is true - the EF mount is pretty flimsy for sure. The Ciecio7 EF-PL adapter comes with a tripod foot I believe, so it (and the lens) can be locked down to the camera rig pretty securely.

Quick question... Will there be any way to go from a PL mount 4.6k Mini to an EF mount? Is there an adapter that will allow this? Im thinking this would be the ideal camera, you would essentially have all these options at your disposal. You would have a PL mount to start then you could swap out for the B4 mount, or slap on an EF mount. If someone can shed some light on this it would be very helpful, or maybe i'm just wishful thinking?
